Chris Eubank Jr Could Be in for a Shock Against Conor Benn
There is one week left to go before the Eubank and Benn family rivalry is renewed. Among fans, there seems to be a major belief that an upset will happen when middleweight Chris Eubank Jr (32-2, 23KOs) takes on welterweight fighter Conor Benn (21-0, 14KOs).
On October 8, Eubank v Benn fight will take place at a catch weight of 157 pounds. This means the outcome will not affect their standing in their respective weight classes. However, that’s not to say a loss for either is without consequence, in particular for Eubank Jr. Losing to Benn, a much smaller man, would be detrimental to his ego and pride.
WILL EUBANK JR AVOID ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT?
For all of his physical ability, Eubank Jr. has come up short when it mattered the most against fighters who possess better fundamentals and a higher ring IQ. Yet despite these shortcomings, he has maintained supreme confidence in himself in defeating his welterweight foe.
Benn shares the exact same confidence as Eubank Jr, and if we’re being honest, it was him that really got the ball rolling on this bout. He expressed publicly that he beats the younger Eubank Jr at a catch weight. His own skills and the fact that Eubank Jr is the one having to come down in weight all seem like ingredients for an upset. One week from today, we’ll all see the outcome when these two prideful fighters step into the ring!
