PBC Ready to Make Canelo Alvarez Career High Payday For September!

Much of the discussion at super middleweight revolves around an often-talked showdown between unified champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) and IBF champ Caleb Plant (21-0, 12 KOs). It would be for undisputed honors in the division, with September 18 being the targeted date.

Here is the latest update.

According to ESPN, the two are closing in on reaching a deal. Alvarez is the sport’s current cash cow who happens to be a free agent. Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) are ready to offer the 31 year-old a one-fight deal that would be worth a career-high payday. Should negotiations become finalized, a fight between him and Plant would take place on PBC Pay-Per-View.

It would be one final step for the Mexican superstar whose goal is to win all four major titles in the division. In November of 2020, he unified the WBA “super” and WBC belts with a unanimous decision win over Callum Smith. He then captured the WBO title in his last outing with an eighth round TKO win over Billy Joe Saunders in May.

Plant has long desired a fight against Alvarez. The 29 year-old believes he has the style to defeat the man who is ranked first in 3KingsBoxing’s top ten rankings. For PBC, they openly have been pushing hard to land the fight.

While nothing is in stone, all parties are optimistic something can be finalized and announced sooner rather than later. Stay tuned to 3KingsBoxing for continued developments.
