Canelo Defeats GGG By Majority Decision

Canelo vs GGG 2

Canelo Alvarez ekes out a majority decision in a great fight to win middleweight titles!

Abel Sanchez and Gennady Golovkin wanted a Mexican style fight and boy did they get one! Canelo Alvarez came out guns blazing, taking the fight to the champion. It was clear that Alvarez was coming for a knockout as he worked the body early and often.

As the fight progressed, Golovkin was clearly fatigued; evident by his heavy breathing heavy and consistently getting beat to the punch. Alvarez stood his ground continuing to out hustle GGG and land thudding shots.

As round nine came around, Golovkin gained his second wind and started to really turn up the pressure and punishment. He started landing vicious body shots and uppercuts that appeared to hurt the challenger. Round twelve turned out to be the difference between another draw and a close decision win.

Canelo Alvarez was the winner by majority decision to become the middleweight champion of the world. The cards read 114-114 and 115-113 twice.

This fight was genuinely close, and further, exceeded everyone’s expectations as it was full of back-and-forth action.

Fans who want to see these two lock horns again will surely clamor for a third fight between these two.
