Charles Martin Stepping In for Kossobutskiy Against Jared Anderson
According to a report by ESPN, rising heavyweight contender Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson (14-0, 14 KOs) will take on perhaps his toughest foe yet as a professional when he tangles with former IBF heavyweight champion “Prince” Charles Martin (29-3-1, 26 KOs). Martin, who last fought in September of 2022, will look to derail the sensational resurgence of Anderson.
Anderson was originally set to face Zhan Kossobutskiy (19-0, 18 KOs) on July 1 in a homecoming bout. However, the hard-hitting, unbeaten fighter was forced to withdraw from their bout due to visa issues. Now that Martin is his new opponent, a win here could boost him further up the rankings.
While Martin isn’t viewed as a serious contender nowadays, a win over a former champion is still something to be respected. Another thing to look out for is whether or not Anderson can deal with the power of the 37-year-old former champion. Prior to his September 2022 fight against Devin Vargas, Martin took on former world title challenger Luis “King Kong” Ortiz, dropping him twice before ultimately being stopped in round six.
