Ryan Garcia Questions Why Eddie Hearn Says He Has a Plan to Leave Golden Boy

Well it would seem that for the past several weeks, super lightweight fighter “King” Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19 KO’s) has had his hands adversely filled with promoters. Directly after his first professional loss, Garcia was left high and dry by his promotional company, Golden Boy Promotions (GBP). Shortly after, things escalated when King Ryan and the company traded lawsuits. Now, Garcia, 24, has had to clear up some misinformation propagated by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing.

Given the cantankerous nature of their current relationship, it would appear that King Ryan is going to try to find a way out of his Golden Boy contract. Yet, on this notion, according to Ryan Garcia, Hearn is speaking on the matter simply because he saw a mic and not because he commanded facts.

TIME TO PICK A SIDE

Technically speaking, King Ryan is coming off a knockout loss to Regular WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. Nevertheless, Garcia remains a huge draw in the sport. This simple truth would make him a wonderful addition to any promoter’s stable. Rather than behave this way however, Hearn and Matchroom Boxing likely won’t be at the bidding table if Garcia does separate with Golden Boy.

Honestly, hearing Hearn not sing Garcia’s praises is not surprising. From 2019 to 2021, Eddie Hearn was in the Devin Haney business as he had the now undisputed lightweight champion under contract. During this time period, Hearn and Haney worked harder than an Alabaman chain gang to land a fight with Garcia. Yet, despite the fans wanting to see it, having an engaging built-in story line and being Haney’s mandatory challenger, King Ryan never took the fight. Of course, this is something that mystified Eddie Hearn.

Given this history and current climate, it appears that Hearn’s opinion of Garcia is still hard as a crook’s crowbar. No wonder the verbose fight slinger is not rolling out the red carpet for King Ryan. Then again, what promoter wants to pick a dog that he thinks won’t fight? Now, let’s see if these two have a few more choice words for each other!
