Jermell Charlo Accuses Bud Crawford of Picking Off Lackluster Competition!

There’s no secret that undisputed 154-pound champion Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) and WBO 147-pound champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) aren’t fond of each other. In the past, both men have gone back and forth on social media. Two of the best fighters in the sport have talked up a potential fight down the line. Separated by one weight class, there’s no indication that a fight between the two could ever come to fruition. However, this hasn’t stopped fans and the media from asking each man about the possibility of a marquee showdown down the line.

CHARLO IS NOT WORRIED ABOUT CRAWFORD

Charlo is currently preparing for the first defense of his undisputed title against Tim Tszyu (21-0, 15 KOs) in January. During his kickoff press conference, he was asked his thoughts on Terence Crawford’s most recent stoppage win over David Avanesyan. The undisputed champion would go on to say the following regarding Crawford and his latest win:

“I didn’t get to see his fight; I’ve never heard of what he’s done. I’ve never heard of his opponent; I’ve been really focused on what I have in front of me. Everybody says they gonna beat somebody, this and that, but all I see is him riding off the names of the PBC fighters. He ain’t even trying to really fight nobody for real. These people over here are on a whole different ball field! He’s playing in the AFL, I’m NFL – top tier, got all the rings. I’m Tom Brady, the black one.”

It’s clear from his comments that he doesn’t believe Crawford wants to fight the top guys over at PBC. Whether people agree with that sentiment or not is a different situation. Moreover, while a fight between these two would be fantastic, Crawford has some unfinished business to take care of before moving up in weight. That business is the long overdue undisputed welterweight showdown with unified champion Errol Spence Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs).
