Ray Beltran may get another title shot opportunity against Richard Commey!
3kingsboxing.com has learned IBF lightweight champion Richard Commey is likely to face to former WBO lightweight champion Ray Beltran on June 28.
This would mark Commey’s first fight and title defense since winning the vacant crown back in February over Isa Chaniev, who he stopped in the second round. Shortly after that fight, the new champion would be diagnosed with a hand injury that had brought a mandatory inactivity period of six to eight weeks.
Now he is ready to get back in the ring and attempt to make his first title defense.
Beltran is coming off a ninth round knockout victory over previously unbeaten and #2 ranked WBO contender Hiroki Okada in February as well. Many believed Okada would have his coming out party against the former WBO champion. Although losing his title the bout before, Beltran proved he can still be a force.
The winner of this fight will face the winner of the IBF eliminator between Teofimo Lopez vs Masayoshi Nakatani on July 19.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
