Terence Crawford vs Sebastin Fundora Is The Next Logical Option

Four-division champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (41-0, 31KO) wants to fight unified super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. But, he may end up fighting unified junior middleweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora instead.

On August 3, Crawford picked up the WBA junior middleweight title by a close unanimous decision over Israil Madrimov. Immediately following the fight, questions about a Canelo showdown were being asked.

During the in-ring post-fight interview, Bud wanted to fight if the price was right.

“If the money is right, we got a fight. But at the same time, he [Canelo] got a fight he got to focus on.”

A UNIFICATION COULD BE NEXT FOR THE CHAMP

Canelo has made it extremely clear that a fight with Crawford won’t happen. To the disappointment of most inside the boxing community, he will face Edgar Berlanga on September 14. So, a fight with Fundora is the only logical next move for the Nebraskan.

In addition to picking up the WBA title, Bud won the WBO interim title along the way. The WBO’s President, Francisco Valcarel, made it clear that Crawford in addition to holding the WBO welterweight title, will be named the mandatory.

After taking to social media a few weeks ago to clarify that a fight with Errol Spence was no longer in play, The Towering Inferno seems to be open to a fight with Bud. A Crawford fight should be at the top of the list for team Fundora, as talks between the two camps could take place soon.

Crawford should forget about fighting Canelo and move on to another mega-fight against Fundora.
