Terence Crawford Wants to Finish his Rivalry with Errol Spence Without a Rematch
On July 29, boxing fans and pundits will be treated to the highly anticipated undisputed welterweight showdown when unified 147-pound champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (28-0, 22KOs) locks horns with WBO champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (39-0, 30KOs). Rematch clauses are in place for the champions to invoke, if they so choose. However, Crawford is placing all his hopes on a clear victory over Spence in the first fight.
This mega-fight has been years in the making. As is the case with most mega-fights, the probability of a rematch taking place is always high. Therefore, rematch clauses are put into the contracts in the event of the losing fighter wanting a chance to extract revenge. However, most fighters will tell you that they’re looking to get the job done in the first fight and erase the possibility of their opponent wanting to run it back again.

Speaking on The Last Stand Podcast, Crawford made it clear he isn’t thinking about facing Spence in a rematch.
“My mind ain’t even on that; I’m looking forward to being victorious in the first one. This is the one that matters to me – the first one.”
That statement and mindset from Crawford shouldn’t come as a surprise. Both he and Spence are supremely confident that they will dominate in victory. Obviously, that remains to be seen until fight night. However, if we get the fight we expect, fans should expect a sequel between these two.
