Terence Crawford eyeing Floyd Mayweather in 2020!
Ever since retired five division champion Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27KO) recently revealed he will be ending his retirement in 2020, there have been endless discussions of who could “Money May” be coming back to face.
The former champion has claimed he will be looking at two fights upon his return with one possibly including a MMA crossover bout. That leaves one for a boxing match. Who should he face?
Well there’s one big name who’s quite interested in lacing up the gloves and going to battle with one of boxing’s greatest.
Terence Crawford (35-0, 26KO), is a three division world champion, former undisputed junior welterweight champion, current WBO welterweight champion and top five P4P fighter in the world!
He has thrown his proverbial “hat in the pot” to take the “Mayweather Challenge!”
Mayweather (42), hasn’t been in the ring since 2017 when he participated in what was a pure money grab against MMA superstar Conor McGregor. There he toyed with the mixed martial artist until he stopped him in the tenth round.
Mayweather did participate in an exhibition match against Japanese kick-boxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa in December of 2018. However, this was much more of an easy fight than the one previously mentioned with McGregor.
Crawford took to social media making his case by simply stating “why not?” As the caption of a fan created the picture of him and Mayweather facing off.
With Mayweather clearly past his prime, I find it hard for him to sign to fight a very talented and prime Crawford. However, with the former five division champ, you never know what to expect!
Mayweather craves attention and will surely continue to tease big possibilities until an official announcement is made.
