Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green (12-0, 11 KOs) is a super middleweight on the fast track and is 3kingsboxing.com’s Female Prospect of the Year. Franchon Crews-Dezurn (8-1, 2 KOs) is the reigning undisputed champion at 168. More and more, it’s looking like their paths will cross.

KEEPING AN EYE ON THE COMPETITION

Green is coming off an extremely impressive sixth-round stoppage over one-time unified super middleweight champion Elin Cederroos in a WBC/WBA title eliminator. In attendance for the fight was Crews-Dezurn. The undisputed champ posted the following messages in reaction to what she was witnessing ringside.

The irony is that Green stopped the same Cederroos who Crews-Dezurn defeated by a unanimous decision to become the undisputed champion in April 2022. Crews-Dezurn hasn’t fought since the victory over Cederroos.

Word on the street is that the undisputed champion could go up in weight and face reigning WBA light heavyweight champion Hanna Gabriels this spring. But Green is still lurking and tugging on her coattails at 168.

MORE LIKELY THAN NOT

Green will be named the mandatory contender by both the WBA and WBC. Look for the sanctioning organizations to order a match between Cruz-Dezurn and Green in the next 30-60 days.

In the aftermath of Green’s most recent outing, fans are beginning to call for a fight between her and Crews. On paper, it has the makings of a terrific contest. It would be a battle of strength on strength.

Both ladies like to initiate action. Crews-Dezurn has a ramrod of a jab and often wears her opponents down. She has a way of making opponents fight her fight. Green is very explosive. Many observers compare her fighting style and demeanor to Hall of Famer Anne Wolfe. With power in both hands, Green is arguably the hardest puncher in the division.

In theory, Crew-Dezurn could vacate the WBC and WBA belts, but that’s unlikely. Besides, it would not be a good look. Many would accuse her of ducking Green. So, if she wants to continue as champion at 168, she has to deal with The Sweet Terminator.

At this point, it’s not a matter of “if” Crew-Dezurn-Green happens, but “when”. Green recently signed a promotional deal with Jake Paul. Crew-Dezurn is under the promotional umbrella of Matchroom. There may be a waiting period, but it’s a good bet they will square off before the end of this year.
