Franchón Crews-Dezurn is Coming for Her Respect Against Savannah Marshall

Professional fighters fight for different reasons. Some fight for money, some for fame, some to become champions, and last but not least, for legacy and respect. When it comes to “The Heavy Hitting Diva” Franchón Crews-Dezurn (8-1, 2 KOs), she’s fighting for the latter. Already established as the best women’s super middleweight in the world, the undisputed champion accomplished the feat after defeating Elin Cederroos in her last fight. It feels as if that’s not enough for her.

On July 1, she’ll make the first defense of her undisputed titles against the very talented and hard-hitting Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall (12-1, 10 KOs). The Virginia-born fighter heads into enemy territory, which she says is just a pit stop towards bigger and better things for herself.

On the latest episode of The Gloves Are Off, Dezurn revealed how it feels to be the undisputed champion and her motivation ahead of her big fight against Marshall.

“I’ve always been a champion; now I just have the belts to prove it. But I feel like a million bucks.”

On whether or not she feels like she’s on top of the world:

“No, I have a hit list. I feel like I don’t get the respect I deserve. Even coming here, I feel like I’m not respected. And this is a pit stop on my road to my final destination. I’ve already made history; I’ve already helped push women’s boxing; now it’s about legacy and respect.”

While the task at hand won’t be easy, nothing in the career of The Heavy Hitting Diva has been easy. After suffering a loss in her professional debut against arguably the face of women’s boxing, Claressa Shields, back in 2016, Dezurn has managed to bounce back in a huge way. Will she be victorious on July 1 against Marshall? We shall find out very soon!
