New tension between Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather?
Just when you thought everything was good between Gervonta “Tank” Davis (23-0, 22KOs) and his promoter and future Hall Of Famer Floyd Mayweather Jr, think again!
In the past, both Davis and Mayweather have been at odds for a number of reasons. Mayweather took a liking to Tank and ultimately took him under his wing. However, as time went, friction started. Mayweather had one view of how Davis’ career should be ran, while Tank himself had another view. Eventually, things would get smoothed out.
WHAT’S THE ISSUE NOW?
On May 19, video of Mayweather training WBC lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (24-0, 15KOs), a potential opponent for Davis, surfaced on the internet. No biggie, right? Wrong! Especially, if you’re Davis.
It upset him so much that he took to social media to throw shade not only at his promoter, but also Haney.
DEVILS ADVOCATE
Let’s play devil’s advocate and side with Davis. Sure, it’s highly emotional and shows a sense of sensitivity on his behalf. How you must look at it from his perspective, his promoter and idol is helping a potential dangerous opponent get better. The loyalty Tank would expect isn’t being distributed by Mayweather working with someone he may view as the “enemy”.
PAST ISSUES WITH HANEY
It’s no surprise that Haney got hit with a personal attack, as the two fighters have exchanged words throughout social media in the past. You can check out those articles down below.

WILL FLOYD AND HANEY RESPOND?
In this social media age, I’m sure we’ll get a response from Haney that won’t be too pleasant. As far as Floyd? I’m sure he’ll be much more diplomatic and may choose to handle this behind closed doors.
We shall see soon enough.
