Andrade Believes his Benavidez Bout Eclipses Canelo at 168

On November 25, two-divisional champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (32-0, 19KO) will finally face an opponent boxing fans can’t complain about in “The Mexican Monster” David Benavidez (27-0, 23KO). In promoting the bout, Boo Boo took a shot at the undisputed champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (60-2-2, 39KO).

NOT LOOKING TO BE NICE

It is no secret that Andrade has been chasing a fight with Canelo for several years, only to be ignored. During a press conference, the two-divisional champion was not about to be nice when the question arose about the winner fighting Alvarez next.

“Fuck Canelo. This is it – this is the Super Bowl of the 168 division. This is the biggest fight that could be made right here . . . David Benavidez versus Demetrius Andrade, the two avoided fighters. Yeah, I haven’t fought the best because the best doesn’t want to fight, and he can have that same claim. But at this time in our journey, it’s now, so this is the fight.”

Boo Boo has been looking to land a big name for quite some time throughout his career. He shares some of the blame, like turning down a deal that would have seen him face Jermell Charlo in 2014.

In 2019, Boo Boo was on the verge of fighting then-WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders. However, their fight got canceled due to Saunders failing a banned substance test.

Andrade has a valid point, as most boxing enthusiasts called for top fighters to fight each other instead of waiting around for a Canelo fight. Boxing fans should next demand the winner to be rewarded as the number one challenger to the undisputed crown.
