Jamal James Earns Hard-Fought Victory Against Thomas Dulorme

In a fight between two top welterweight contenders for the interim WBA title, Jamal James (27-1, 12KOs) and Thomas Durlome (25-4-1, 16KOs) put on one hell of a show!

The opening rounds of the fight saw back and forth action as both men pressed forward unloading powerful, bad-intentioned shots. James, sporting a significant height advantage, would elect to utilize his jab to set up his right hand. This would play a major factor as the fight would go on.

Durlome took his attack downstairs while punishing the Minneapolis native with hard right hands to head when backed into the ropes. The more James tried to box, the more Dulorme applied the pressure.

As the fight progressed into the second an obvious shift in momentum would happen!

HE TURNS UP THE HEAT!

Looking to close in on a world title opportunity in the near future, James would start to light-up Durlome with repeated right hands that stunned the Puerto Rican on multiple occasions. Showing versatility, he would often switch back to boxing from the outside using his jab to effectively set up his offense from a distance. This caused many moments of confusion and inactivity on the part of Durlome who was clearly getting fatigued physically and mentally.

The ability to switch up his attack is what gave once-defeated James the upper-hand in this fight. His opponent expected a tentative foe who would stay on the outside. When this did not happen, Dulorme could not adjust.

While clearly losing the battle in the second half of the fight, the Puerto Rican contender wouldn’t go down without letting it all hand out! He launched a desperate last attempt at reversing his fortunes by ramping his offensive attack. Ultimately it would be too late and not so effective.

After twelve hard fought rounds James would be awarded a hard earned unanimous decision victory. The scores were 115-113, 116-112 and 117-110.

The win puts James closer to a world title opportunity against super champion Manny Pacquiao. However, he may need to go through the ringer a bit more in order to warrant the attention of such a prestigious name.

Many fans are calling for a fight with WBA Gold champion Vergil Ortiz!
