Derik Santos Says Enough Is Enough With Claressa Shields
It’s now been several days since undisputed middleweight champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (14-0, 2 KO’s) began carpet bombing the names, reputations and manhood of former boxer Arturs Ahmetovs and WBA junior welterweight champ in recess Rolando Romero. The crux of her tirade revolved around a five year old sparring video that Ahmetovs posted. In said video, the former fighter floored Shields with a left hook.

Yet, the real controversy comes into play when the Olympian alleged that Ahmetovs removed the padding from his gloves before engaging her. Having had his fill of what he says is complete malarky, Ahmetovs former chief second, Derik Santos has now taken to his social media. In his version of events, Team Shields asked for them to come help with a fight which they happily did.
However, once mixing it up with T-Rex in sparring she became unnecessarily verbally gruff and physically wild. After absorbing so much with humility, Santos instructed Ahmetovs to serve a bit of what he’d been tasting from her. This culminated in the now viral sparring knockdown.
NOW WHAT?
Despite chasing fights with the males of her boxing fraternity, Shields is unlikely to land a prizefight with any truly notable male figure. Yet, even as she continues to clash with her sorority sisters, it’s more important than ever that she not suffer a misstep. If she has a poor performance, gets floored and loses then she would almost certainly experience a tremendous fall from grace.
Boxing has an extremely fickle, “what have you done for me lately” fan base. Given the roasting that she is receiving in the comment section of nearly everyone of her heated posts, Shields has already primed the situation for disaster. Therefore, it will be very revealing and interesting to see who T-Rex takes on next and how that performance plays out.
