James Tennyson – Samir Ziani Possible

James Tennyson could be facing Samir Ziani.

3kingsboxing has learned that Matchroom Sports has won the purse bid to host another championship bout. James Tennyson (22-2, 18 KOs) could be headed for a collision with Samir Ziani (28-3-1, 5 KOs).

Tennyson is currently holding the WBA international Super Featherweight title; a belt he won in the summer of 2017 and has three successful defenses. He also won both the Commonwealth/EBU titles by defeating Martin Joseph Ward earlier this year.

Ziani is a former WBA/WBC International Lightweight champion and a current France Super Featherweight title holder. After his last loss in 2016, he has been on a six-fight win streak.

This is a stay-busy fight for Tennyson, who normally fights three times a year and is ranked #2 by the WBA. He will also boast advantages in height and power.

Ziani has very little power, but is more experienced and the better boxer. He is hoping the experience factor will be the difference in this fight. This is a big opportunity for him to make some noise in a very competitive division.

An official date hasn’t been set, but this is a very intriguing fight: classic Boxer vs Puncher.

As always, we will continue to follow this story and make updates as they become available.
