Derrick James Says Errol Spence Knows He Must Face Crawford to Reach Undisputed
The fight that has captured the boxing communities attention is unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (27-0, 21 KO’s) and WBO Yordenis “54 Milagros” Ugas (27-4, 12 KO’s). However, trainer Derrick James wants fans to know that his fighter Spence is willing to fight WBO champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (38-0, 29 KO’s).
THE FIGHT FANS ARE WAITING ON
This saga between Bud and The Truth has been the main focus of the division since the WBO champion defeated Jeff Horn to capture the title back in 2018. Truthfully, fans were eyeing the fight after Crawford became undisputed junior welterweight champion in 2017.
Social media is filled with a war of words between the two champions. Crawford has taunted the Texas unified champion on numerous occasions. He once antagonized Spence by dancing on the grave of his lost fight with then WBA champion Manny Pacquiao.
The Truth had his share of shots fired as well. Spence openly made his case that most of the work in the division of gathering belts has been done by him. The fans have taken things up a notch, saying that the unified champion is ducking Crawford or vice versa.
SPENCE NEVER SAID NO TO THE FIGHT
Fans’ hopes that the fight still happens are at an all-time high with Crawford now being a free agent. On a few occasions, Crawford has said the fight wouldn’t happen. He has even indicated that with or without fighting Spence, he will make the Hall of Fame.
During an interview with 3Kings Boxing, James who trains Spence, wants fans to know that his fighter has never said he wouldn’t take the fight.
“Errol has been saying he wants to be undisputed. So, what does that mean? He got to fight the guy with the title! If he wants to be undisputed, he gotta fight the guy […] the guy never said he not going to fight you.”
