Jack Catterall Ready to Finish Josh Taylor Rivalry in March Rematch

At long last, the highly-anticipated rematch between WBO junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) and challenger Jack Catterall (26-1, 13 KOs) is signed and sealed. The two will fight in March 2023 on the champion’s home turf of Glasgow, Scotland.

Their first battle was one of the more controversial contests of this year. In February 2022, Catterall scored a knockdown and gave Taylor fits before the judges ruled in the champion’s favor by a split decision. Taylor blamed his performance on complacency and a lack of focus. The Tartan Tornado vows to give Catterall a boxing lesson this time around.

DEAD SET ON REVENGE

Catterall has heard the talk from the champ and is unmoved. During an interview with UK’s iD Boxing, the 29-year-old believes he’s at his best and will show it when they step into the ring for the second time.

“Yeah, we’ll see. It’s exciting because if that’s the way he wants to come across – he’s going to run through me – then he’s gonna have to answer a lot of questions come March.

I’m ready. I feel like I’m coming into my peak years now. I’m getting better every fight. So, it’s game on. I can’t wait to smash his head in.”

Some pundits felt Catterall let the foot off the gas in that first bout. He said that this time there will be no let-up. Aware that he can hurt Taylor, Catterall feels if he hurts him again in March, he finishes him off.

Emotions will be high and the Scottish crowd will be at a fever pitch. Catterall understands the assignment and is hungry to leave the ring with his hands raised in victory and the belt wrapped around his waist.
