Eddie Hearn Laughs At Parker’s Promoter

Higgins Demands 35% and Hearn Laughs It Off

Last night Joseph Parker’s promoter Duco Events held a press conference on Facebook livelaying out their final purse split demands for a potential unification clash with Anthony Joshua, who holds the WBA, IBF and IBO world titles.

David Higgins, Duco, and Parker stated that their final non-negotiable offer for the unification should be 65/35 in favor of Joshua, with Parker lowering his figure by 15% in recent weeks since talks surrounding the fight have developed.

Eddie Hearn who promotes Joshua thinks it was a publicity stunt by Higgins and Parker. He laughed off the press conference when asked about it, saying it was held in a broom cupboard and filmed by an eight year old and not the right way to go about proceedings.

“You’ve got to love this David Higgins – he is absolutely off his swede,”

“We are getting closer on a deal, but holding a press conference in a broom cupboard with a promotional video that looks like it’s been done by my eight-year-old daughter is not the one, in terms of justifying your commercial value.”

“Negotiations are ongoing and we are hoping a deal can be reached.”

The confirmation of talks matches up with the statements from Higgins, who said that the two camps have been in discussions and are progressing.

Higgins not the one to be shy of a dig at a promotional rival, speaking toSky Sportssaidthat “What Eddie should be worried about it is Joshua’s chin, not our press conference. It’s pathetic.”

As far as purse percentages and negotiations go, most fans couldn’t care less and just want to see the fights. It is good for the occasional laugh however.
