Devin Haney Pushes Vasiliy Lomachenko To End Weigh-In With A Bang!

Undisputed lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (29-0, 15 KO’s) without question is ready to get his knuckles on Vasiliy “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KO’s). After both men made weight for their May 20 showdown, when doing their face-off, The Dream shoved Lomachenko hard enough to loosen some of his fillings! Just before the push there was little to indicate what brought the action on, yet Haney would answer the question shortly afterwards when speaking with media members.

“I’m upset, it’s been four years! It’s been way too long, when I got my chance I took it!”

SHOULDN’T HAVE DUCKED ME SON!!!

When speaking of the four years, Haney is referencing how long he has been doggedly pursuing a duel with Lomachenko. Their personal saga dates back to 2019 when The Dream worked himself into the mandatory position for the WBC 135-pound title. Loma was the holder of the belt at that time. Rather than face Haney, Lomachenko successfully petitioned to become the WBC Franchise champ and vacated his title. Unfortunately for the Ukrainian superstar he would then lose his next match to Teofimo Lopez.

Haney went on to first collect the WBC title and then became undisputed when he traveled to Australia to twice defeat George Kambosos in his own backyard. Despite becoming the king of the division, The Dream still harbored a substantial grudge against Lomachenko for not fighting him back in 2019. Clearly this emotional baggage boiled over in the recent weigh-in.

Only time will tell if the shove will mean something in the ring on fight night, or will simply remain a part of the pre-fight theatrics. No matter how this high-stakes duel resolves itself however, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report all the juicy details!
