Ohara Davies Thinks Rolly Romero Is Scared
WBA’s top junior welterweight contender Ohara “Two Tanks” Davies (25-2, 18KO) believes that fear is the reason WBA champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero (15-1, 13KO) wants to fight “King” Ryan Garcia instead of him.
On May 13, when Romero was gifted the vacant WBA Regular title in a controversial stoppage over Ismael Barroso, he instantly called for a fight against Garcia. He is overlooking one major hiccup that the WBA ordered the winner to face Davies within the next 120 days.
OHARA DAVIES EXPLAINS WHY ROMERO PREFERS TO FIGHT GARCIA NEXT
These two have a history going back to a sparring session years ago. While speaking with iFL TV, Two Tanks believes that’s the reason why Romero isn’t quick to make the fight.
“Because he’s scared. He knows what I’ve done to him in sparring. I hit him with a left shot downstairs to the body, the same shot I got [Lewis] Ritson with. I remember it was in Vegas. I went up there to his gym in front of everyone, and mate I put it on him.”
Davies feels the WBA champion will lose whether it’s against himself or Garcia. Plus, he understands that fighting the latter is more profitable, but it doesn’t matter due to the ruling set forth by the WBA.
“He’s thinking I would rather get beat against a more known fighter for bigger money than get beat by Ohara Davies. The WBA has said that I’m next, and that’s the way it’s going to go.”
On March 4, Davies earned the right to fight for the title after defeating Lewis Ritson in a title eliminator and is not about to back down.
