TJ Doheny vs Daniel Roman Super bantamweight Unification!
3kingsboxing had previously reported this unification between WBA champion Daniel Roman and IBF counterpart Terence “TJ” Doheny to take place April 6. However, the date has been moved to April 26!
The boxing community knew this exciting news was imminent with Doheny signing under the DAZN streaming app banner. The 32 year-old southpaw shocked the world in 2018 by defeating Ryosuke Iwasa on the road to become champion.
He followed this performance with a successful title defense via a crowd-pleasing stoppage against Ryochei Takahashi.
Looking to continue building his resume and hungry for more, he enters his third big fight in a row. The Irish champion packs a punch! Also, with a high knockout ratio of seventy-one percent and possessing good boxing ability, he has shown he’s not just a one dimensional fighter.
Roman (28), has only lost twice early in his career. However, he has put together probably one of the best winning streaks in boxing of eighteen straight victories.
This includes defeating then undefeated WBA champion Shun Kubo by technical knockout. He would follow up this performance with three successful title defenses. The young champion will also be fighting his fifth undefeated fighter when he faces the IBF champion.
The winner can make the claim of being the man of the division! It’s an exciting time in the lower divisions as these guys are continuing to make great, fan-friendly fights.
Hopefully the victor will face either the WBC title bout winner between Rey Vargas and Tomoki Kameda or the winner of the rematch between WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete and Isaac Dogboe!
The fight is scheduled to take place in the Roman’s back yard of California at the Forum, Inglewood on April 26.
