Dorticos meets Masternak in the first fight on his journey to reset his first WBSS result!
Former WBA Cruiserweight Champion Yunier Dorticos (22-1, 22 KOs) will be in action against veteran Mateusz Masternak (41-4, 28 KOs).
This is part of the second installment of the World Super Series Cruiserweight tournament. The first saw Dorticos lose his title and undefeated record to then undefeated IBF Champion Murat Gassiev.
The 32 year-old Cuban fighter, is looking for redemption in hopes of winning this tournament and possibly even a title opportunity down the line. Many pundits still have questions about what will be the mindset going into this fight or what he learned from the defeat.
A victory is a must! However, in boxing we’ve seen on numerous occasions the effects the first career loss via knock out has on fighters.
Masternak, a 31 year-old Polish fighter, hasn’t loss since his 2015 bout with Tony Bellew. Since he has won five fights in a row and will be looking to make an upset.
INTERESTING FACTS
Dorticos has never lost when fighting in Miami, while winning the majority of those fights by knock out.
Masternak is a former IBO/WBC International cruiserweight champion. He will be fighting in the US for the second time.
This bout is scheduled to take place at the CFE Arena in Miami, Florida.
