Daniel Dubois Wants a Title Shot Soon!

For swiftly rising heavyweight contender Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois, life is good. On December 21, he will stage a fight with Kyotaro Fujimoto (21-1, 13 KO’s) in London, England. The bout will stand as his fifth prizefight this year. Living up to his moniker, Dynamite won each of the previous four contests by knockout.

A HISTORY OF SUCCESS

Heading into this dust-up with Fujimoto, Dubois must admit that he is not overly familiar with him. The hard-punching UK pugilist has seen him on film a few times, but nowhere near enough to declare him as any sort of aficionado. While Dubois is no expert on his Japanese opponent, Dynamite is confident that he will prevail in their bout.

“To be honest he’s [Fujimoto] been present to me, I’ve seen him fight a couple times. Listen, he’s going to come and give it his best shot. Again as I’ve done before, I’m preparing to deliver a devastating performance and get him out of there in style.” ~Daniel Dubois, heavyweight contender

Provided that he is successful over Fujimoto, Dubois is beginning to turn his mind toward a title shot. Some might think this is a tad presumptuous due to his only having 13 total fights to his name. To his credit though, Dubois is a terrifically skilled talent. As an amateur, he was gifted enough to make the Great Britain Olympic team, but left early to turn professional. In the pro ranks, Dynamite has already captured the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles.

With these accomplishments under his belt, Dubois is eager to keep on pushing to the next level of his career. While conducting an interview earlier this week, WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder specifically highlighted Daniel Dubois as an up and coming fighter to watch. Receiving praise such as this would seem to validate that Dynamite is on the correct path.

“It’s happened really quickly. As a kid, I had high ambitions for eventually becoming world champion along the road and loads and loads of glory but it’s happened really fast. It’s escalated quickly and I’m enjoying it.”

DREAM DANCE PARTNER

Two weeks ahead of his bout, fellow UK boxer Anthony “AJ” Joshua (22-1, 21 KO’s) will stage a must-win rematch against Andy “Destroyer” Ruiz Jr (33-1, 22 KO’s) on December 7. On May 1, AJ suffered a crushing upset loss at the hands of Ruiz. In defeat, Joshua was stripped of his WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight straps. The thick-muscled fighter opted to activate his immediate rematch clause in an effort to quickly retrieve them back.

When asked who he’d prefer to face between Ruiz and Joshua, Dubois stated that his preference would be AJ. For most it will be no surprise to hear that he’d prefer to face his superstar countryman. There is little doubt that this would make for a huge prizefight in their native UK region. Regardless of who wins, Dynamite simply is hopeful that when the time comes there is no hassle in obtaining his first title shot

3kingsboxing will continue to monitor the development of this promising young heavyweight.

“It’s what I want, it’s the end goal, the pinnacle. You can’t get any better than that. You know world heavyweight champions it’s the aim and I got to keep winning to get to that point and to continue the journey. I’m more than ready for it, I’m prepared 100%, I give it my all every time in the gym and when its fight time I turn up.

I’d like to fight Joshua. Definitely Joshua but whoever wins is definitely going to be the man and we don’t know what is going to happen. You know, boxing is constantly changing. I keep hopes high and whoever has the belt when I’m ready then we’ll get it on.” ~Daniel Dubois, heavyweight contender
