Daniel Dubois impresses in his American debut
UK heavyweight “Dynamite” Daniel Dubois (17-1, 15 KO’s) was looking to make a big impression in the States and he did just that. Dubois accomplished this by scoring a first round knockout of Joe Cusumano (19-4, 17 KO’s). With the win, Dynamite is now two fights removed from his only professional loss to Joe Joyce back on November 28, 2020. Dubois was given a great deal of grief for that loss because it was deemed he quit after his eye socket was damage. Now, armed with back-to-back KO victories, the #1 (WBA) ranked UK bruiser is starting to reclaim a great deal of his lost luster. It will be interesting to see who he locks horns with next.
It didn’t take long for Dubois to get to work. After only 58 seconds could be chewed off the clock, Dynamite had Cusumano on the canvas. He was able to floor the Virginian with a thudding right hook. The frazzled Cusumano would make it to his feet at the count of nine. However, he didn’t look all that steady. Unsurprisingly, Cusumano was dumped back on the canvas two more times within ninety seconds. After his third trip to the ground, the bout was mercifully waved off. As a result, Dubois was credited with a 1st round TKO in his American debut. In his post-fight interview, Dynamite called on American heavyweight Trevor Bryan to answer the call of duty.
