Daniel Dubois Stops Kevin Lerena to Top Off Fury v Chisora Undercard!
DANIEL DUBOIS OVERCOMES ADVERSITY TO STOP KEVIN LERENA
The WBA ‘regular’ heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18KO) overcame early adversity to get a win over the tough Kevin Lerena. Dubois’ heart was tested after being down three times in the first round. He came back to score a third round stoppage in a drama-filled bout. After regaining his composure from the early knockdowns, the WBA champion sent Lerena to the canvas with a crushing right hand. He went into attack mode on his opponent and finished him with an uppercut that forced the referee to stop the fight at the bell.
DENYS BERINCHYK DEFEATS BATTLE-TESTED YVAN MENDY
Lightweight contender Denys Berinchyk (17-0, 9KO) successfully returned to the ring after a one-year layoff against a battle-tested Yvan Mendy. The 2012 Olympic silver medalist came out clicking on all cylinders – switching from orthodox to southpaw and confusing Mendy. Berinchyk’s overall boxing ability was the story of the fight at both mid-range and close quarters. He won by unanimous decision (117-111, 116-112, 116-112). 3Kings Boxing agrees with the first scorecard.
KAROL ITAUMA DOMINATES BELUJSKY
Karol Itauma (9-0, 7KO) put on a show by proving what all the hype is about. The 2018 Youth Olympic Games gold medalist worked like a sniper behind the jab. Furthermore, he proved to have a motor, fighting strong throughout the contest. He threw punches in bunches en route to knocking down Vladimir Belujsky in the seventh round, before finally getting the stoppage in the eighth round.
HOSEA BURTON GETS ANOTHER GOOD VICTORY OVER REINIS POROZOV
Hosea Burton (28-3, 12KO) scored a victory over Reinis Porozovs, making it two wins in a row since losing to top-rated light heavyweight Dan Azeez for the BBBofC light heavyweight title in 2021. With two confident-building fights in the bag, team Burton will have to decide if they want to test someone within the top 15.
ISAAC LOWE PICKS UP THE VICTORY AGAINST SANDEEP BHATTI
After suffering two losses in a row, Isaac Lowe (22-2-3, 6KO) gets a much-needed win against the unknown Sandeep Bhatti. The referee awarded the man from Landcaster a shutout victory. Super featherweight is a stacked division – let’s see what is next for the Westgate Warrior.
