Thomas Dulorme gets passed Terrel Williams!

Thomas Dulrome (24-3-1, 16KOs) wanted to advance past his journeyman status against a hot fighter in Terrel Williams (18-0, 13KOs).

The Puerto Rican has come up short in his biggest tests against Carlos Abregu, Terence Crawford, and Yordenis Ugas. Regardless, the Puerto Rican veteran has the talent to give anyone he faces problems.

Williams has mentally struggled since the tragic events that left Prichard Colon partially paralyzed with a severe brain injury in 2015. Since, he has won three fights in a row, however, even he admits the event has changed him as a fighter.

At 35 years-old he absolutely needs this fight to have any chance of reaching a championship.

The Recap

The fight got off to a fast start with both fighters staying on their jabs while looking to create. Early on the fight took on an interesting dynamic. Dulorme looked towards being the aggressor while Williams was wanted to utilize his boxing ability.

The Puerto Rican fighter was the better athlete and he made a commitment to take full advantage. He continuously beat his opponent to the punch with devastating left-hooks and the damage was obvious!

Williams struggled to get off first and when he elected to play the counter-puncher, he got the worst of the exchanges. When the fighters were in the pocket, Dulrome was comfortable using his advantage in hand speed.

At the conclusion of round seven, Williams’ legs started to look unsteady and it had an effect on his balance and accuracy. It started to look as if the American was winding down!

In the following round, a clash of heads causes a gash above Dulrome’s left eye. This opened the door for Williams to have something to target while possibly destroying the confidence of his opponent. At that moment, the tenor of the fight changed as the American started to be more aggressive, forcing his opponent to ease off the gas.

However, this would only last so long!

Ending With a Bang!

In the final round, Dulrome capitalized on an already favorable performance as he upped the pressure and took control of the round. He left no doubt in ending the fight on an excellent note as he scored a knockdown with fifty two seconds left!

This no doubt sealed the fate for Williams!

In the end, the judges scored it 98-91, 98-91, and 96-93 all for the Puerto Rican contender.

With this win, Dulorme will more than likely get another shot at a top ten opponent to help move him into his first world title shot since losing to Crawford in 2015!
