Gary Russell Jr Threatens Leo Santa Cruz
Gary Russell Jr has upped the ante in his pursuit of a unification bout with WBA featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz.
The WBC champion has done something that I’m sure people will find extremely disrespectful and uncalled for. In a video released, it shows Russell approach Jose Santa Cruz and put his arm around him.
Russell goes on to send a stone-faced message to his so far elusive rival.
“Come see me, I want you, I want you. I’m at arms reach, I can touch him, I can put my hands on him Leo. So, if you want some smoke, I’m not playing no games with nothing moving. Don’t think y’all can pop up and run around and hide and disappear.”
“Stop acting like a sucka and come see me before I go and get your father. I already got your father I could’ve put him in a L if I wanted to. Stop playing with me shawty grow some nuts, grow some cajones, whatever you want to call. Come see me man.”
This was a calculated move by Russell that could turn out to be genius if it gets Santa Cruz in the ring. He knows how close Leo and his father are, so this video may be more than enough to get the WBA champion to finally sign on the dotted line.
How will Santa Cruz respond if he responds at all? It’ll be interesting to say the least.
