The issue of COVID-19 continues to sadly make its impact on The Sweet Science. 3KingsBoxing has learned that legendary Hall Of Famer Robert Duran has tested positive for the virus and is currently in a hospital in his native Panama City, Panama.
Roberto Duran Jr, son of the boxing legend announced the news on June 25 via social media. As the son explained on his Instagram, his father was initially admitted to the hospital due to a viral infection. Tests were taken and unfortunately, the results came back positive.
“My father’s tests have just arrived and confirm that he is positive for COVID-19. Thank God he is not having symptoms beyond something similar to a cold. We have just spoken with the doctor and he told us his lungs are fine and there are no signs of any serious damage.”
While the initial news sounds relatively positive, this development is still rattling to fight fans. Known as “Manos De Piedra”, the 69-year-old is a living legend and revered throughout boxing circles across the world.
We at 3KingsBoxing wish him a speedy and full recovery.
