Trainer for Julian Williams, Stephen Edwards praises Jarrett Hurd and his team for honoring VADA testing request!
In today’s modern boxing times, unfortunately, fighters popping dirty with PEDs has become a very common phenomenon. Most recently, Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller was caught doping in probably the most egregious violation in contemporary memory, if not ever.
He was caught with a whopping three different banned substances in his system (GW1516, HGH and EPO). Given this dangerous climate of cheating, those who abide by the rules should receive their just due for doing so.
On May 11, Julian “J-Rock” Williams (27-1-1, 16 KO’s) thoroughly out-boxed, out-worked and out-finessed then unified champion Jarrett “Swift” Hurd (23-1, 16 KO’s) en route to becoming the new IBO, IBF and WBA junior middleweight champion. During the in-ring post-fight interview, Williams was quick to lavish ample praise on not only Hurd, but his family as well.
Later, while backstage, William’s chief second, Stephen “Breadman” Edwards, continued to give validation to the toppled champion.
“That’s what I want to give him credit for, not too many people do that. We asked for VADA in February or we wasn’t going to fight, and they took VADA for three months for that fight.
“Not a lot of people do that in boxing. Dudes lie, they say a lot of shit. The reporters don’t have the courage to ask them why there was no testing for certain fights. That kid [Hurd] took testing for three months! We couldn’t talk about it, but that’s the truth.
So, you gotta give the boy props for that.”
Not only was this a great fight, minus any controversy, there was a rematch clause in the contract. With this being the case, there is a high likelihood that we could be blessed with this thrilling match-up one more time later this year.
