Eithan James Delivers the UD Over Jermaine Osbourne-Edwards
Fans expecting anything more than a light-fisted welterweight encounter between Eithan James (13-1, 0KO) and Jermaine Osbourne-Edwards (11-1, 1KO) should also expect a pig to fly across the sky! Both fighters walked to the ring with a combined one knockout in twenty-four bouts. Therefore, this fight taking thirty minutes to determine a winner was expected.
Admittedly, both men produced high energy and volume the entire fight. This is likely a testament to the lack of punching-power, but James took control early and never lost it. Coming off the first loss of his career in March 2024, the Northampton native used his height and reach advantages to keep Osbourne-Edwards on the end of his jab.
The 35-year old Osbourne-Edwards didn’t have a bad game-plan. As a southpaw, he kept his lead foot on the outside and attempted setup straight right-hands to nullify his opponents movement. However, his compact stature and flat-feet constantly kept him out of range, resulting in him catching straight shots each time he tried to let his hands go.
James kept repeating what was working, forcing his opponent to make the adjustment. It wasn’t until a knockout from Osbourne-Edwards was needed that James started allowing his opponent to take a couple rounds. The obvious strategy proved to be the correct one. James walked away with an easily decided unanimous decision victory.
