Alvarez vs Gvozdyk
A purse bid has been set for Friday by the WBC for the ordered interim light heavyweight title fight between Eleider Alvarez and Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
Alvarez, 23-0, scoring his two most won a decision over Jean Pascal in his most recent fight. He also knocked out Lucian Bute in the fifth round of a bout in February.
Gvozdyk, 14-0, also went 2-0 in 2017. He most recently stopped Craig Baker back in August. Prior to that he made quick work of Yunieski Gonzalez in three rounds in April.
The purse bid is set up so that Alvarez would get a 60-40 split of the winning bid. At the moment it would be more realistic to think Top Rank is favored to win the bid.
If Top Rank does win the bid it is likely this fight could take place as soon as March according to sources within the promoter. With a big schedule to fill in for their network agreement with ESPN this fight would fit nicely.
