Jaron Ennis Wants to Cash-in on his IBF Number One Spot with Errol Spence!
Jaron “Boots” Ennis (29-0, 27KOs), one of boxing’s best fighters, officially clinched the IBF number one position. This came after he disposed of Custio Clayton in two rounds. The Philadelphia native is unbeaten, supremely talented and ready to lock horns with unified champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (28-0, 22KOs).
Blessed with tremendous athleticism, hand speed, and brutal power, Boots has been tapped as the future of the welterweight division. Currently, the division is under the chokehold of Spence and WBO champion Terence Crawford. However, there’s a chance that will no longer be as Ennis will more than likely get a world title opportunity at some point in either 2022 or, realistically, 2023.
In the immediate aftermath of his destructive win, he made it clear it’s Spence he wants next after earning the number one spot in the IBF standings.
“Anybody right now can get it right now. But I’m the IBF number one contender. I think Mr. Big Fish is in here himself, so I think it’s time to go fishing. “
There’s no secret of Boots’ desire to face the best in his division. However, in the past he was viewed as a high-risk, low-reward opponent. Even though he’s still viewed that way, he now has the top spot in the IBF, which makes him no longer easily dismissed by Spence.
It’s only a matter of time before he finally gets a big fight opportunity.
