Spence Promising To Give Crawford A Beating On July 29

We are less than a week away from the July 29 super-fight between undisputed welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (28-0, 22 KOs) and WBO belt holder Terence “Bud” Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs). The unified champion warns that if Crawford is not up to the task, he will lose and get punished in the process!

STAYING ON POINT

Spence discussed the upcoming clash on the Higher Learning Podcast. He is confident of victory and spoke on how he believes there are multiple routes he can take to success.

“I think it’s going to be a number of ways I’m going to beat him. Pressure definitely, boxing, definitely beating him through fundamentals; using my jab. But the key for me is just to focus one hundred percent and not have any lags in the fight.

“[…] The guy who loses focus, even for a split second, that can cost you in a fight. So for me, it’s just staying focused, listening to my coach’s game plan, and breaking him down mentally, physically, and winning the fight in dominating fashion.”

Errol Spence – Unified Welterweight Champion

Spence makes a good point about being at his best. Crawford is one of the more complete and most intelligent fighters in the sport. The WBO champion possesses the tools that could give Spence plenty of problems.

READY TO GET THE JOB DONE

Having not fought in fifteen months, some in the boxing community wonder if Spence will be sharp and on his A-game. It’s a legit question due to Spence’s lengthy periods of inactivity and his numerous injuries over the years. However, throughout the lead-up to this fight, the unified champion has promised to break Crawford’s will.

The Texas native believes he will be more than ready once the bell rings. He’s wanted to fight Crawford for several years and is on a mission to defeat the former undisputed junior welterweight champ and become the undisputed welterweight champion of the world.

“I’m going to punish him. I’m going to straight punish him. Everybody sees the way I fight, see what I can do. If he can’t hold up mentally and physically to how I fight it’s going to be an ugly night for him.

“It’s going to be an ugly night for him, regardless. Even if he can hold up, it’s going to be an ugly night for him, regardless.”
