Chris Eubank Jr bets on Billy Joe Saunders getting put to sleep
When it comes to Chris Eubank Jr (30-2, 22 KO’s) and WBO World Super Middleweight champion “Superb” Billy Joe Saunders (30-0, 14 KO’s), the animosity is very real. So much so that Eubank Jr recently put his money where his hate is! The UK pugilist has made an official bet of £10,000, or roughly $14,000 US dollars, against Saunders. More specifically, Eubank bet that Superb will be knocked out when he faces WBA Super and WBC World Super Middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (55-1-2, 27 KO’s). Given this wager, there is little doubt that their years-long feud is as bitter and cantankerous as ever.
Back on November 29, 2014, Saunders and Eubank officially locked horns in the ring. When all the dust had settled, Superb walked away with the split decision win and each man apparently left with a lifelong scorn for one another. Now with this latest opportunity to publicly demean his former in-ring rival, Eubank is not letting it pass him by.
It will be interesting to see if Saunders even makes it to the ring to face Alvarez. Apparently, he and his team are threatening to abandon the bout over the size of the ring. According to Team Saunders, the fight contract stated that the ring should be 24 feet. Yet, after inspection, it was found to be less than that. Obviously this is a major issue for Superb! Some believe this is merely a bluster at worst or mind games at the best. Some others wholeheartedly believe that Saunders is deadly serious and would actually walk away from this mega-fight.
A HISTORY OF NONSENSE
Truthfully, you cannot put anything past Billy Joe Saunders. He has made international news on multiple occasions and never for anything good. Whether he is causing a mini-riot crashing a dinner Deontay Wilder was having, duping drug addicts into committing violence or giving tutorials to men on how to best beat their wives, he is a bona fide wildcard. Going a step further, he has imploded two separate fights with Demetrius Andrade and a pair of bouts with Martin Murray. Said to say Saunders is no stranger to poor, asinine decision making or destroying fights.
So we will just have to wait and see if this is the train wreck it appears to be or simply ill-advised posturing. If it is all smoke and mirrors, Eubank Jr would be that much more satisfied if Saunders is stopped within the distance! Yet, only time will tell! Regardless of the overall outcome, 3kingsboxing will be there to report the news!
