Ferreira vs Baumagardner For Undisputed Should Happen
Super featherweight fighter Bernice “The Badger” Ferreira (11-0, 4 KO’s) defeated Caroline Veyre (11-2, 0 KO) by way of unpalatable disqualification. Following an egregious amount of hugging, clutching and holding, referee Malik Waleed reached his limit and pulled the plug on the contest. Now armed with title, The Badger could look to face unified champion Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner.
This ruling was no small matter as it also awarded Ferreira the lightly regarded IBO super featherweight belt. A huge opportunity could be waiting on Ferreira, who is now staring in the direction of The Bomb (18-1, 7 KO’s) for an undisputed showdown. At the moment, Baumgardner does not have any set opponent on the books, so there is nothing overtly preventing this duel from taking place next. The question remaining is does the unified champion care about regaining a belt she never lost in the ring.
So, we will all have to wait and see if these two teams can come together and make this duel a reality or if they go in different directions. Baumgardner is hoping to land a mega-fight with fellow stablemate unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano. If she doesn’t get the Serrano match-up, then reclaiming undisputed is a must.
