Taylor Takes Out Kristaps Bulmeistars with Ruthless Efficiency
Well that didn’t last long! Top UK light heavyweight prospect Ezra Taylor (9-0, 7KO) was expected to hop in the ring with a better challenger but found himself in with little known late replacement Kristaps Bulmeistars (12-3, 5KO). Ranked third in his home country of Latvia, there was a slight expectation that Bulmeistars would put up a challenge. That wouldn’t be the case.
After the bell for the first round sounded and some jockeying for position, an overhand right landed on the left-side of Bulmeistars’ head. The shot put him down immediately. He would beat the count but the referee didn’t think he would be able to defend from catching a similar thunderous shot if he allowed the fight to continue. Twenty-four seconds into the fight, Taylor recorded the seventh knockout of his career!
