Fabio Wardley Gets Late Stoppage Over Joseph Parker

For his latest in-ring contest, heavyweight fighter Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KO’s) defeated former world champion Joseph Parker by way of eleventh-round TKO. With the victory, Wardley took possession of the interim WBO strap that Parker held.

If being truthful though, the stoppage, by referee Howard Foster, was a very bad one. Parker has proven over time that he is a durable fighter who, to date, has earned the benefit of the doubt. That being said, at the precise time that the match was halted Parker, was mentally aware, not taking any serious damage, and occasionally returning fire.

Putting the rather unsavory stoppage out of mind, Wardley still is in control of the interim WBO title. While it is not a full title, it still makes him a mandatory challenger to undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Naturally, this is a fight that the UK pugilist would love to make.

With Usyk being undisputed, and having three other titles to defend, we will have to see how his schedule unfolds. Perhaps luckily for Wardley, Usyk just fought back in July and is likely looking to start his search for the next opponent and payday. So, for the time being, we will have wait and see what Team Wardley can drum up next for their interim champion.
