Fans Vote To See George Kambosos Fight Vasiliy Lomachenko
Unified lightweight champion George “Ferocious” Kambosos (20-0, 10ko) is most definitely enjoying the spoils of victory. Kambosos immediately catapulted to the top of the division after defeating Teofimo Lopez on November 20. Moreover, he took to social media asking fans who should he fight next, and the response has been overwhelming.
The unified champion has a target on his back as all of the top lightweights are eager to fight him. WBC champion Devin “The Dream” Haney is flagged as the possible next opponent, as both fighters talked about going for true undisputed.

Now to his credit, Kambosos has always made it clear he was looking to make the most exciting fight. Furthermore, he stayed in the United States, scouting fights of the other top guys in the division.
Ferocious is looking to collect a big payday and is shopping around for the most lucrative course of action. Kambosos took to social media with a poll including the top names in the division, asking the fans who they would like to see him fight.
A REMINDER FROM THE CHAMP
The result seems to have put the supposed frontrunner, Haney, in jeopardy of losing out on the fight as fans voted for former unified champion Vasiliy Lomachenko. Of course, Haney was not amused by this and would remind Kambosos of what was said in their face-to-face meeting.
“You said I would be next so keep that same energy.”

Equally important, Kambosos, during the post-fight interview after Haney defeated Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz, did say “now, we can really talk,” while rubbing his fingers together, indicating he wants to get paid.
ARE BOXING FANS BEING PRISONERS OF THE MOMENT?
Fighting under the Top Rank banner, Lomachenko dominated former IBF champion Richard Commey on December 11. It was the Lomachenko fans were used to seeing before losing all his belts to Lopez. He was virtually fighting like a video game character on cheat mode.
It is understandable if boxing fans are being prisoners of the moment with Lomachenko’s fight being so fresh on their minds. President of Top Rank, Todd DuBoef, revealed an interest in making the fight.
“We are amicably trying to have discussions with them for a fight in the first half of next year.”

Like it or not, Kambosos is in the driver’s seat and is capitalizing on the situation. One thing is for certain: whoever wants a shot at those titles will have to pay a hefty price.
