Sebastian Fundora Steamrolls Tim Tszyu – What’s Next?
In his latest tour of duty, WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KO’s) picked up a personally satisfying victory. This is due to beating rival Tim Tszyu in their highly anticipated rematch. Rather than the judges handing The Towering Inferno the win like in their premiere contest, this time around Tszyu was broken down and quit on his stool following an intense seventh round.
When the two first crossed paths, Fundora won the vacant WBC title that he still holds and has now defended twice. During his post-fight interview, The Towering Inferno did not call out or even hint at who he desired next in terms of opposition. Yet, one can only imagine that his mind is set on unification. If this is indeed the case, his list of opposition gets slim in a hurry.

The WBO title is currently vacant, and the WBA strap is held by two-division undisputed champion Terence Crawford who is slated to face unified super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in September. This simple subtraction leaves only IBF 154-pound champion Bakhram Murtazaliev (23-0, 17 KO’s) left to duel with. Murtazaliev was last in action last October 19, 2024, when he completely demolished Tim Tszyu himself.
If not Murtazaliev, Fundora would also have a worthy and exciting opponent in interim WBC 154-pound champion Vergil Ortiz Jr (23-0, 21 KO’s). The Golden Boy fighter is extremely respected in the division, makes for great action fights and is in the market for a dance partner. Ortiz Jr.’s last call of duty saw him defeat Israil Madrimov this past February 22. So, let us see what Team Fundora can drum up next.
