Tyson Fury Offers Parker the Benefit of his Experience with Wilder
When WBO former heavyweight champion Joseph “Lupesoliai La’auliolemalietoa” Parker (33-3, 23 KO’s) steps into the ring on December 23, he will do so as the much more active man. This is due to his opponent, former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KO’s), having only fought one professional round in nearly two full years.
At the same time, when facing opposition the likes of Simon Kean, Faiga Opelu and Jack Massey, Parker was not exactly playing the role of giant killer himself. One unlikely feather in his cap though is his kinship with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. This is because Fury has now gone thirty rounds with Wilder over their three total prizefights. Even still, according to Parker, Fury kept it short and sweet with him, as he explained to Boxing Social.
“I did speak to him, and he gave me his advice – don’t get hit with the right hand – and that was it.”
VOLUME VERSUS POWER
On December 23, we will have to see how these two big men line-up and perform in the ring. Under the hot lights of the night, perhaps Parker’s greater activity will serve him well. At the same time, there is a significant chance that four camps in one year may be one too many. And as any boxing fan knows, you don’t want to get caught with Wilder’s felonious right hand while depleted.
So, we will just have to wait and see if Parker has the wits and ferocity to topple Wilder. Or, will The Bronze Bomber resume his campaign of knocking out everyone not named Tyson Fury? Thankfully, no matter who prevails, 3Kings Boxing will be here to cover all the juicy aftermath.
