Anthony Joshua V Tyson Fury next? What about Deontay Wilder?
Could we soon see a clash for undisputed supremacy in the heavyweight division for the first time since November of 1999 when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in their rematch?
According to a report by ESPN, there’s talks underway to stage what would no doubt be by far the biggest fight of 2020, and possibly 2021, depending on if and when a deal is agreed to, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
WHERE WOULD THE FIGHT BE STAGED?
Saudi Arabia, who hosted the Andy Ruiz vs Anthony Joshua rematch in December of 2019, is currently pushing hard for the fight. However with both Joshua and Fury being British, a fight at Wembley Stadium would be ideal. Still, nothing is concrete on either front. So as negotiations continue, I’m sure things will start to get sorted out.
Fury, who’s last four fights have been in America, has to be craving a homecoming fight and what better way to get it than by participating in an undisputed clash? However, whomever dishes out the most money will likely host the fight.
UK MEGA FIGHT!
Both Joshua and Fury have a certain level of disdain for each other that would be entertaining in the buildup for the fight. Fury is an elite level trash talker, while Joshua is more reserved. Both men have called one another out over the years with no fight coming close to fruition.
WHAT ABOUT DEONTAY WILDER?
Before you all get too excited, let’s remember one thing here. Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has a contractual agreement for a rematch which he has already invoked.
To get Wilder to step out of the way is going to take a huge payday. Although, even then, will the Alabama slugger relinquish an opportunity to extract revenge and regain his title back? Those are all things to consider.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
