Ryan Garcia Defeats Carlos Morales

Ryan Garcia escapes with Majority Decision win over Carlos Morales

In his lightweight debut, Ryan Garcia came out strong utilizing a nice sharp jab that would keep Morales at bay for majority of the early portion of the fight.

As the fight wore on, however, Morales was able to close the distance and start to land some nice left hooks and right hands that pushed the head back of the undefeated fighter.

In the sixth round, Garcia appeared to hurt a cut Morales as he pounced his opponent sensing an opportunity to stop him.

Morales would come back strong hurting his opponent in the seventh with a hybrid jab/left hook, that sent a clearly exhausted Garcia reeling backwards trying to survive.

It didn’t get much better for the favorite as his opponent appeared to win three of the last four rounds. The fight was getting closer and adjustments needed to be made.

In the end, Garcia would win a majority decision by the scores of 98-92×2 95-95.

This was a good test for the young fighter who will surely learn from this moving forward.

He showed grit and mental toughness to fight through fatigue and an unrelenting Carlos Morales.

After the fight, the crowd showed their displeasure of the official scorecards. Regardless, Garcia was adamant that he is ready for a Gervonta Davis fight.
