Danny Garcia Preparing A Tough Night for Jose Benavidez Jr!
It’s clear from listening to and watching Danny “Swift” Garcia (36-3, 21KOs) prepare for his junior middleweight clash with former world title challenger Jose Benavidez Jr. (27-1-1, 18KOs) that he wants to make a grand statement that will put undisputed champion Jermell Charlo and the contenders in the division on notice.
The Philly boxer-puncher knows that Benavidez will be a hard man to knockout. However, he’s planning on making his opponent’s night very difficult. So, how will he do that?
Speaking to ThaBoxingVoice, Swift divulged a little bit of the game plan ahead of their fight.
“Yeah, he’s a tough guy, so you’ve got to make him doubt himself. You’ve got to hit him hard and make him think twice, and not give him anything easy. Make him work for everything he tries to bring to the table, and that’s what we’re going to do.”
From his comments, one can take away that Garcia will likely play the role of boxer-puncher in this fight. He has to proceed with some caution. Swift will have to contend with his body getting hit by a bigger man at a higher weight class. Furthermore, what will be the approach of Benavidez Jr, who has the power to hurt Garcia?
Needless to say, both men will have to be at their best, as a firefight between these two can breakout at anytime.
