Jarrell Miller Overwhelms Derek Cardenas and Wants One Fight per Month
Disgraced heavyweight contender Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (25-0-1, 21KOs) continued his comeback after a nearly four-year ring absence due to multiple failed drug tests. His latest ring assignment came against a severely overmatched Derek Cardenas (8-10, 7KOs). The fight, which took place in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was another opportunity for the colossal-sized heavyweight to continue to knockoff ring rust. This comes after his successful ring return with a June 23 victory over Ariel Esteban Bracamonte.
Cardenas never stood a chance as he was dropped twice in round three before being stopped in round four. This would be the seventh stoppage loss of his career. Nothing Miller did was eye-catching inside the ring. However, on the brighter side of things, he did come into this fight 13 pounds lighter, weighing 328 pounds compared to the 341 pounds he weighed in his comeback fight.
With the second fight of his comeback now behind him, what’s next for the former top heavyweight contender? Well, according to him, he plans to fight once a month for the remainder of the year. In actuality, this is a good idea as he can continue to not only shed the ring rust but also the weight as well. For people looking for him to take a significant step anytime soon, I wouldn’t hold my breath as we’re witnessing a man try and knockoff four years of inactivity.
