Golden Boy Prospects Remain Undefeated

DeLuca & Quigley pick up easy wins

Undefeated Mark De Luca improved to 21-0 with 13KO’s, as he stopped Ramses Agaton in the seventh round of a scheduled eight-round junior middleweight bout on Saturday night in a Golden Boy on ESPN card at the Marina Bay SportsPlex in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Agaton (20-8-3, 10 KOs), took the fight on less than a week’s notice. He normally fights at welterweight and appeared to be the much smaller man in there Saturday night. An accidental clash of heads opened a cut over the Mexican’s left eye in round three and it pretty much bleed from then on. Surprisingly, the ringside physician allowed the fight to continue after examining between every round.

Agaton was victimized by a rather strange ruling in round four as DeLuca hit him below the belt, yet the referee penalized Agaton two points. No explanation was given for the ruling.

DeLuca simply punished Agaton from the outset in this bout. He was able to stop him with a pair of thudding body shots in the seventh round. Agaton was able to beat the count, but the referee ruled he was unable to continue.

In the co-feature, prospect Jason Quigley, of Ireland, stopped Daniel Rosario, of Puerto Rico, in the sixth round of a scheduled eight-round middleweight bout.
