Gorman defeats Sokolowski for a second time!

British heavyweight prospect Nathan Gorman entered the ring on the Yarde-Sequeira under-card for fourteenth time as a professional. The bout involved an opponent whom he defeated by fifth round knockout in his fourth professional fight.

Kamil Sokolowski had a record of 1-6-1 in their first bout. Coming into the rematch he won four, lost six and gained another draw. Obviously fans expected another knockout win for Gorman; perhaps quicker than the first time around.

While the victory becomes another added to the win column, Gorman’s performance may have been a detriment to his marketability. He fought as if he was unfamiliar with his opponent’s style. In addition, he was too relaxed, possibly due to the fact he had already beaten his foe.

The relaxed demeanor saw him get caught multiple times by a Sokolowski right hand. Additionally, the 22 year-old prospect seemed to have stamina issues in the second half of the fight.

Regardless of winning virtually every round, the fact he went the distance with someone he has stopped before and who has only won 26% of his fights can be seen as a negative. The congratulations could be extended more to Sokolowski for surviving in the rematch.

Nevertheless, Gorman improves his record to 14-0, with 11 knockouts. As fans know he has been very vocal about fighting fellow stablemate Daniel Dubois. If he does not get this fight next, he will definitely need to step-up his competition going forward.
