Hamzah Sheeraz Is Willing To Fight Chris Eubank Jr Next

While serving his last tour of duty, middleweight fighter Hamzah Sheeraz (20-0, 16 KO’s) fought and dismantled the heavy-fisted Austin Williams in impressive fashion. Although it was ultimately a dominant win, Sheeraz did have to brave through a couple of scary moments himself. Now that his heart, chin and skillset have passed that most recent test, the UK native is setting his sights on the next target. And if given his way, as he shared with Boxing Social, Sheeraz would love to test his might against Chris Eubank Jr (33-3, 24 KO’s).

“In an ideal world yes, it’d be an honor to share the ring with boxing royalty and at the same time give me the chance to prove myself to show that I do believe in my ability, I believe in Frank’s ability in me, that I am the best 160-pounder in the division and this [a fight with Eubank] gives me the chance to prove it. And then eventually win a world title and prove it on the world scene as well.”

“[…] I think it’s the only fair fight, barring Conor Benn, that makes sense for him. And the reason why I say that is because financially he will get what he wants…Wembley Stadium, British crowd, two British fighters, 160, probably one and two names in the UK and you could argue in the world, so I think it makes sense.”

WE GOT A FIGHT?

A duel between Sheeraz and Eubank Jr. would indeed be a solid match up for the reasons that Sheeraz outlined. Going on step further it would be a good showdown for Eubank Jr would have been out of action for just under a year.

For a lengthy period of time he was pursuing a battle with Conor Benn but a PED’s violation on Benn’s part put the kibosh on those plans. Even if they signed the fight today, it’d probably get him back in the squared-circle at just about the one full year mark.

Given his inactivity of late, and the thrilling win that Sheeraz just captured, Eubank Jr would benefit from the worthwhile adversary and the current attention and buzz surrounding Sheeraz’s name right now. It will be interesting to see how, or if, Eubank Jr responds to this fight proposition.
