Devin Haney has his Strategy Mapped Out for Defeating George Kambosos
WBC lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (27-0, 15KOs) is on the verge of fulfilling a quest to become the undisputed champion in the upcoming fight against unified champion “Ferocious” George Kambosos Jr (20-0, 10KOs). Moreover, he understands that executing a game plan is pivotal to being victorious.
Haney has been barking up the tree to fight any of the top lightweights for quite some time. However, he patiently waited for the opportunity to arise, and when Kambosos kicked former unified champion Teofimo Lopez off the throne, things began to turn around.
The Dream heavily campaigned to fight the new unified champion. He even made it clear he was willing to travel to Australia to make the fight happen. Kambosos has consistently said he wanted to make a homecoming title defense in a big fight. In the beginning, Vasyl Lomachenko won the prize to fight the Australian. However, Loma was compelled to return to his country to defend his home from the Russian invasion. Finally blessed with the call, Haney believed that the unified champion was forced to fight.
READY TO EXECUTE THE GAME PLAN
During an interview with Sky Sports, Haney expressed having a game plan to expose the holes for beating Kambosos Jr.
“We have a game plan, but we got to execute it on fight night, and I look to do it. But, there’s many ways, there’s many holes. There’s many different ways we can beat him. But the one game plan that we have, we really feel that it will work.”
“Of course, he has holes and bad habits, and I look to show him on fight night […] after the fight you can ask me how I executed the holes.”
Fans can watch the fight for undisputed live on ESPN from Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia June 4.
